Golf Teaching Aid - How To Improve Your Putting
There is no question that in the game of golf, putting is the most important aspect of the game. You can hit the longest drives, or hit great wedge shots onto the green, but if you can't putt, you can't score.
Even the PGA Tour players suffer from this at times. Think of how often you've seen John Daly get on a par-5 in two, only to 3-putt for a par. So, here are a few tips on improving this vital part of your game.
1. Practice your putting twice as much as any other part of your golf game.
2. When you begin practicing your putting, get a feel of the speed of the greens first. You can do this by setting a tee in the ground about 20 feet away. Hit several putts to your tee marker until you get a consistent feel for the speed.
3. Go out 10 feet past the hole and get a mental picture in your mind of a one-foot circle around the hole. Now, hit your putts into that one-foot circle. Don't worry about sinking them! You only want to get them consistently within a foot of the cup.
4. Ok, begin dropping putts from 1 foot away. After you hit 3 putts, back up another foot. Continue to do this until you've gone out to 10 feet. This drill will give you confidence and consistency.
5. Before quitting your practice time you'll need to end by sinking 3 putts from 5 feet. Why? It allows you to end on a positive note.
By utilizing these golf training aids, you'll not only improve your putting skills, but you'll also reduce your score as well.
