Golf Equipment - Buying The Right Golf Clubs

Are you one of the many new golfers who are faced with buying the right set of golf clubs? Don't make the mistake that many golfers make in going out to a mass retailer like K-Mart and simply picking out the first set of golf clubs off the shelf. Purchasing the right set of golf clubs for your golf game is very important and can make or break your golf game.

Keep in mind that whatever set of golf clubs you buy now, you will most likely use them for many years into the future. Golf clubs are like an investment, and an expensive one at that. You should approach it like that and make the best investment decision you can make. So what should you be looking for, and not looking for, when buy a new set of golf clubs?

Mass Marketed Retailed Golf Clubs

If you were looking for the easiest way to buy a new set of golf clubs, this would be it. It is also the one of the worst. Not to offend anyone, but consider for a moment that these golf clubs are manufactured for the weekend hacker. Is that what you consider yourself to be? Or are you looking to become more proficient with your golf game?

Also, just about every mass retail store only carries a few different brands or sets of golf clubs. You basically have no selection to choose from. And if you happen to be a left-handed golfer, well good luck! Your choices are really slim to none of finding any golf clubs at all.

Get Your Golf Clubs Custom Fit

I can't stress enough the importance of going to a golf retail store, or your local golf club professional and be custom fit. Having your golf clubs custom fit for you personally rather than just buying a set of everyday golf clubs from your local Wal-Mart will help your golf game dramatically. Your new golf clubs will be designed for your personal height, swing, and style of play. The good news is that it usually will not cost any extra to be custom fit. You should have that included with the purchase of any new golf clubs.

Be sure to take your time before making any purchase. Take a look at the various makes and models of golf clubs. Take some practice swings with different golf clubs until you find the set that feels just right for your golf game. Every large golf retail store has an indoor hitting area. Also, the local golf pro shop will always allow you to go out to the driving range and hit golf balls with any clubs they sell.

Look At These Areas Before Buying Any Golf Clubs

·        Does the grip feel right? If not, have them changed.

·        Is the club too heavy? Look for something lighter.

·        Is the shaft too loose for your swing? Look for golf clubs with a steel shaft for better control.

·        How does the club feel in your hands at impact? If you're not comfortable, try another set.

All of these little things add up and make choosing the right set of golf clubs so important. We are all different, and what may be perfect for you, will not be right for me.

Purchasing a good set of custom fitted golf clubs shouldn't be difficult. Take your time. It is a significant investment, and it will have a great effect on your golf game. The ultimate goal in buying your new golf clubs is so you can have more fun out on the golf course and hopefully win a few rounds with your foursome.
